Boy, 14, died of self-inflicted gunshot wound
A 14-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound to the head Monday in Tacoma has died, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s office.
The official cause of death was suicide; Tacoma police found no signs of foul play, said spokeswoman Loretta Cool.
Police responded to an apartment near South Mason Avenue and Center Street after the incident and spoke to occupants, according to police spokeswoman Loretta Cool. Another juvenile brought the gun to the apartment, and initially fled the scene, but later spoke to police. Other witnesses confirmed an overall account of horseplay with the weapon before the fatal shot was fired.
