Man shot in leg near Tacoma gas station

Tacoma police are searching for a man who shot another during an argument behind a gas station.

The victim, who was shot once in the leg, was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said he was not cooperating with detectives who were interviewing him about what happened.

“Unfortunately the victim would not provide any information about the suspect,” Officer Shelbie Boyd said. “But the victim made statements that led us to believe that they were known to one another.”

The shooting happened at 10:30 a.m. in an alley behind a gas station in the 8200 block of Pacific Avenue.

The victim then stumbled down the alley and sat in front of the gas station mini-mart awaiting police.

Store clerks who were working at that time said they did not see the incident happen but did hear the shot go off behind the store.

A search dog was used to look for the shooter, and there were no eyewitnesses, Boyd said.

Police are also searching the area for video footage but have yet to find any.
