Man dies in Auburn from stabbing
A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death Thursday after trying to break up an argument between his mother and her boyfriend at an Auburn apartment, police said.
The victim has not been identified.
He was at his mom’s apartment on Fifth Street Northeast when a dispute between the mom and her boyfriend became heated about 10:30 p.m., Commander Steve Stocker said.
The victim tried to pull the boyfriend away and calm him down but the boyfriend allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him.
By the time police arrived, the boyfriend, who lives in Oak Harbor, had fled. He was located overnight in Anacortes and booked into jail on suspicion of murder.
Detectives on Friday were securing warrants to search the suspect’s vehicle and the apartment where the man died.
