Auburn man stabbed to death is identified

An Auburn man stabbed to death while trying to break up an argument between his mother and her boyfriend has been identified as Jaseree Fountain.

Fountain, 21, died of multiple stab wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Fountain’s mother returned to her apartment Thursday night and found her boyfriend, Fritz Ratcliffe, there with her oldest son and a friend. Ratcliffe appeared to be drunk.

The couple argued off and on for a while.

At some point, Fountain stepped in his front of his mother when Ratcliffe came at her and Ratcliffe stabbed him repeatedly, according to court documents.

Ratcliffe fled and was found later that night in Anacortes. He was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and is being held on $1 million bail.

King County prosecutors are expected to making a charging decision by Wednesday.
