Argument in Tacoma among 3 teens leads to 1 wounded, 1 captured, 1 on the run

A Tacoma shooting left one teen recovering from a gunshot wound, one in custody and another on the run Saturday.

The incident occurred when three teenage boys started arguing about 2:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of South 48th Street, Tacoma Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The first suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the 17-year-old victim.

The victim ran to a store near the Tacoma Mall Transit Center and collapsed. He was transported to Tacoma General Hospital where he was being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Cool said.

After the shooting began, the second suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and began shooting at the first suspect. The first suspect then ran west on South 48th Street, ditching his gun and some clothing, which Tacoma police have recovered.

The second suspect, 16, was taken into custody but is not cooperating with police, Cool said.

The first suspect is still at large and unidentified. Cool described him as a black male in his late teens in black clothing and missing a shoe.
