Bonney Lake student accused of extorting mother of missing girl

A Bonney Lake High School student is accused of sending a woman a threatening message about her missing daughter after demanding to see the woman’s breasts.

Pierce County prosecutors charged the 18-year-old with cyberstalking with sexual motivation. An arraignment date has not been set.

The woman reported her 14-year-old daughter missing in December. Police said the girl is listed as a runaway.

Posters were put up across the city asking for help finding the girl.

Prosecutors gave this account:

On Jan. 29, the girl’s mother received Facebook messages, allegedly from the high school senior, asking how she was doing and whether she was single.

The woman said she was not single and was not doing well because she was worried about her daughter.

The teenager then asked to see her breasts and offered to return her daughter if she did so, according to charging papers.

“If you don’t I’ll kill her,” prosecutors allege he wrote.

The woman immediately reported the exchange to the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies spoke to the teenager the next day and said he didn’t know where the girl was and sent her mother a message because he thought she was “pretty.”

He insisted he didn’t mean the threat and “apologized profusely,” records show.
