JBLM resident charged in Eatonville drive-by shooting

An Eatonville family of three was sleeping last Wednesday when their property alarm went off, followed by gunshots and the sound of a front window being shattered by a rock.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies called to the house in the 11000 block of 417th Street East found Jeremy Douglas Watson, 41, laying in the front yard.

He was screaming and covering his right ear, with a handgun nearby, charging documents state. Deputies said the Joint Base Lewis-McChord resident appeared to be high on methamphetamine.

Watson was ranting about his “dead” wife having a lover and that he had come to the house to “stop” him, the deputies said.

When deputies tried to contact Watson’s wife, military police told them he had threatened her Wednesday night, court documents said. Deputies were able to confirm her safety.

The family living in the house told deputies they did not know Watson.

He was arrested and faces two counts of first-degree assault and one count of drive-by shooting in Pierce County Superior Court. Court Commissioner Meagan Foley set bail Friday at $3 million.
