Teen pleads guilty to shooting man in the chest during Tacoma carjacking
A teenager who shot a man in the chest during a string of carjackings in Tacoma pleaded guilty Wednesday.
Aaron Toleafoa, 17, was charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, among other crimes.
He pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, vehicle theft and taking a vehicle without permission.
Toleafoa stole multiple cars at gunpoint in October 2014, when he was 15.
During one of the carjackings he shot a man who had just dropped off a date and was about to drive away. When the man reached for his own gun, Toleafoa fired.
The teen, who was charged as an adult, will be sentenced this year.
