Man accused of fatal crash on Purdy Spit pleads guilty
A man accused of causing a wreck on the Purdy Spit that killed a Gig Harbor man pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Joshua Cunningham, 40, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, and his sentencing is set for later this year.
Cunningham had been drinking before the crash, and had THC (an ingredient in marijuana) in his body, the Washington State Patrol said.
The wreck happened after he left a bonfire about 10:40 p.m. Sept. 11 and made a U-turn on state Route 302 without turning on the SUV’s headlights.
James Jagger, 56, of Bremerton, tried to brake his motorcycle, but couldn’t stop from crashing into the SUV driver’s door and was thrown from the motorcycle
He died from his injuries three days later.
