Tacoma police trying to identify would-be bank robber

courtesy of Tacoma Police Department

Tacoma police are asking for help identifying a man who tried to rob a bank in the 5800 block of South Tacoma Way last month.

The would-be robber walked into a Bank of America branch about 12:10 p.m. March 24 and handed a teller a note that said he had a gun and wanted cash.

He and a customer began arguing and eventually he snatched his note back from the teller and left without any money.

The man was described as about 25, 5 feet 8 and 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He wore a black peacoat and gray pants.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Tacoma-Pierce County Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and might receive a reward if the information leads to an arrest and charges being filed.
