Tacoma teen sentenced for kidnapping ex-girlfriend, infant and then firing shots at bystanders

An 18-year-old Tacoma man has been sentenced to six years in prison for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, their infant daughter and shooting at several others nearby.

Mickeal Gordon, then 17, was arrested and charged in September 2015. He later pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, drive-by shooting and second-degree unlawful possession of a fire-arm.

His sentence, handed down Friday, included 18 months of community custody.

Charging papers give this account:

Officials believe Gordon was trying to convince his ex-girlfriend to come back with the baby to their family home when he abducted them Sept. 12 from a home near South 70th and L streets.

Gordon came looking for his former girlfriend, 18, and their 5-month-old daughter. Realizing how upset Gordon was, a witness called the ex-girlfriend to tell her to stay away

Before the young woman received the warning, she arrived at the home with her new boyfriend, the baby and four young people, ages 6, 10, 15 and 16.

Gordon, carrying a gun, opened the door of the van carrying the ex-girlfriend, hit her and pulled her out. He put her and the infant into his car and, as he left, shot through the back window of the van at others nearby.

About five hours later, Gordon released the young woman and the infant near a friend’s house. Neither was hurt.

Gordon later turned himself in.
