Fight outside South Hill home leaves resident dead
A South Hill man was killed Thursday night in a fight outside his house, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The two men knew each other but detectives are unsure what led to their fight, which took place about 8:30 p.m. in the 15400 block of 75th Avenue Court East.
The victim was identified as John Webber, 37.
“During the fight, the victim went to the ground,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said Friday.
A roommate helped Webber inside but he stopped breathing moments later. Paramedics performed CPR but Webber was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other man involved in the fight, who is 27, was booked into the Pierce County Jail early Friday on suspicion of second-degree murder. He is expected to appear in court Monday.
