Tacoma police seek rape suspect
Tacoma police are looking for a man charged with kidnapping a woman and raping her after she asked for a ride to see a family member.
Oscar Sanabria, 37, of Tacoma was charged April 6 with first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping with a sexual motivation in Pierce County Superior Court.
Court Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered a warrant be issued for his arrest.
According to court papers, Sanabria picked up the woman at a fast-food restaurant in the 7200 block of Pacific Avenue on March 29 and offered her a ride.
Instead of taking her where she asked to go, he drove her in the opposite direction, parked on a dirt road near South 84th Street and raped her, prosecutors allege.
He then drove the woman back to Tacoma, where she leaped from his car in a thrift store parking lot and sought help, court documents state.
The woman identified Sanabria in a police photo lineup and gave a full license plate number for his car, which police later impounded.
Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to Sanabria’s arrest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
