Pierce County man sentenced to more than 3 years for molesting 13-year-old he met online

A Pierce County man was sentenced to three years, five months in prison Friday for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl he met online.

John Stenger, 28, pleaded guilty earlier this year to second-degree child molestation and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

The girl’s mother wrote a statement to the court that said in part: “He not only kidnapped, raped and completely traumatized her, he stole her innocence.”

Stenger brought the girl to his home in March 2015, she told him she was 18 and they had sex, according to charging papers.

The next day, he learned the girl was 13 and called a hot line for missing children to get her home.

Later he sent her sexual text messages, which her mother saw.

Superior Court Judge James Orlando sentenced Stenger.
