Tacoma teen killed after being struck by car

A 16-year-old Tacoma girl died early Thursday after being struck by a vehicle at Portland Avenue East and East Wright Street.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a suicide.

Police said the girl was apparently lying down in the road about 12:35 a.m. when a 51-year-old woman failed to see the teen in the road and hit her.

The driver remained at the scene.
