Second person charged in shooting of woman’s ex-husband in Parkland

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a second person in the May 12 shooting of a woman’s ex-husband in Parkland.

The man was shot in the back of the head, and the bullet “traveled along his skull and exited out through his forehead,” according to court documents. He remains unconscious.

Brian Douglas Widland Jr., 29, was arraigned Thursday in Pierce County Superior Court on a charge of first-degree assault.

The Tacoma man is being held in the Pierce County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

He is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend, documents say.

The other person charged in the case, Amy Yasuko Taylor, 42, is being held in lieu $500,000 bail. She is the ex-wife of the victim, documents say.

The victim was shot and assaulted May 12 outside his girlfriend’s Parkland home after Taylor and Widland came there, prosecutors allege. They fled after the shooting.

Taylor was arrested Friday (May 13).

After Widland was arrested Wednesday, a golf club and a pistol believed to have been used in the attack were seized by Pierce County sheriff’s deputies, documents said.
