Woman pleads guilty to crash that cost Tacoma man his legs

A woman pleaded guilty to vehicular assault Thursday in connection with a Tacoma wreck that cost a man both his legs.

Brenda Pleasants, 42, had been drinking before the crash, which happened Jan. 5 on East 38th Street near Pacific Avenue.

Cortney Spencer, 30, was standing behind his disabled car at the time, and Pleasants’ car crashed into him, causing injuries that led to his legs being amputated.

Sentencing is set for next month.
