She was 13 when the grown man in another state proposed.
The girl lived in Fife with her parents. Bryan Kanieski, now 35, lived in Missouri. They met online in March 2013 and began talking on the phone and communicating via social media channels.
Her parents knew nothing about it until March 2014, when Kanieski allegedly sent sexual messages to one of the girl’s friends and she reported it.
Fife police spoke to the girl, who said she agreed to marry Kanieski and they planned to wait until she turned 18.

She also disclosed the sexual online relationship that developed over the years.
Kanieski told the girl “he was infected with something called MBS — masturbation build-up syndrome — and he needed help because it could kill him,” according to court documents.
He said “he was disgusted with porn and he would rather have help from the person he loves,” records show.
The two began performing sex acts via Skype.
When detectives in Missouri spoke to Kanieski, he allegedly admitted to the relationship and knowing the girl’s age.
He told them “ ‘age is just a number’ when you love someone,” according to charging papers.
Police found four child pornography images of the girl on Kanieski’s computer.
Pierce County prosecutors have charged him with felony communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He is set to be arraigned June 21.
