Back to school resource fair in Sumner this week

Calvary Community Church is hosting Sumner/Bonney Lake Family Center Student and Family Resource Fair from 3-6 p.m. Friday. The fair is serving students at Bonney Lake, Crestwood, Daffodil Valley, Donald Elsmann, Emerald Hills, Libery Ridge, Maple Lawn and Victor Falls elementary schools; Lakeridge, Mountain View and Sumner middle schools and Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools. School supplies, backpacks, haircuts, immunizations and sports physicals will be available plus a resource fair for the families. It’s being held at the church, 15116 Gary St. E., Sumner.

Bonney Lake High School teacher receives advisor award

Tricia Littlefield, from Bonney Lake High School, was recently awarded the Washington Association of Career and Technical Education’s Outstanding Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Advisor Award. The award recognized an advisor who significantly contributes to the leadership development of their students. Littlefield has service seven years on the WA FCCLA Executive Board, has served on the WA-ACTE FACSE Executive Board since 2001 and many other career achievements.

Four Heroes Elementary School in Lakewood to host grand opening

The Clover Park School District will be hosting a grand opening celebration of its newest school, Four Heroes Elementary School, named for the four Lakewood police officers killed in 2009. Many local first responders will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and program. Tours of the school will be held after the ceremony. It is being held 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the school, 9101 Lakewood Drive SW. For more information, call 253-583-5040.
