Bethel schools all clear following afternoon lockdown
Three Bethel School District schools were on lockdown Monday after a reported threat by a student, district officials said.
Nelson Elementary School, Frontier Middle School and Graham-Kapowsin High School went into lockdown following the report. All three schools are located in close proximity.
During the lockdown, classes at Nelson continued as scheduled. Frontier and Graham-Kapowsin had already dismissed for the day and buses had already loaded. Staff and students participating in sports and other after-school activities at those two schools were kept safe inside the schools as deputies searched for the student.
Once the student was apprehended and it was determined there was no threat to the campus, the lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:45 p.m.
District spokeswoman Krista Carlson said the student who was apprehended was from either the middle or high school.
