Peninsula School District hosts levy forums

The Peninsula School District will host public forums to discuss a 2016 replacement levy for educational programs and operations. The public is invited to participate and share ideas about the possible levy at two meetings this week — 8 p.m. Monday (Sept. 21) at Henderson Bay High School and 8 p.m. Tuesday at Key Peninsula Middle School. In addition there is an online survey available for the public to complete. The survey is at surveymonkey.com/r/MB7SLHV

PLU brings professional certification program to Tacoma schools

A partnership between the Tacoma Principals Association and Pacific Lutheran University will give Tacoma principals the chance to complete their administrator professional certifications and maintain state certification. The program, beginning with the 2016-17 academic year, will be delivered on-site in Tacoma schools.

Celebrate Beachwood Elementary grand opening

Clover Park School District will host a grand opening celebration for the new Beachwood Elementary School at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event for the school on Joint Base Lewis-McChord will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and self-guided tours of the school. U.S. Rep. Denny Heck, former U.S. Congressman Norm Dicks and JBLM deputy joint base commander Col. Will Phillips will be on hand. For more information, call 253-583-5040.

Learn about community program for kids with special needs

The Community Inclusion Program for special needs kids will hold a resource fair and orientation program Friday at Artondale Elementary, 6219 40th St. NW, Gig Harbor. Families can learn about CIP and about resources in the community from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A family-friendly carnival with games and snacks will be provided. To find out more, call 253-565-2266.
