Learn about online safety

Internet safety expert Stefanie Thomas will speak about cyberbullying, social networking, online posting, sexting, safety tips and more in a free talk on Monday (Nov. 16). The event is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m., in the Great Hall at Annie Wright Schools in Tacoma, 827 Tacoma Ave. N.

Thomas previously worked for the Snohomish County prosecutor's office and police department as a child victim advocate. She has experience in domestic violence, violent crime, Internet crime and sexual exploitation of children cases.

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Learn more and register at aw.org/speaker_series.

Help map plans at Steilacoom High

Steilacoom High School will host a community forum to gather input on the school’s academic, career and technical and athletic strategic plans. There will also be an opportunity to talk about the school-wide book talk for the 2016-17 school year.

The forum is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday Nov. 19 at the school library, 54 Sentinel Drive, Steilacoom.
