Here’s why you might see more boat, aircraft traffic than usual around McNeil Island next week

Next week, Puget Sound residents can expect an increase in noise, air and maritime traffic as 1st Special Forces Group conducts a week-long training exercise near McNeil Island.

There will be noticeable aviation and maritime traffic from 9 a.m. until midnight from Sept. 28 thru Oct. 2, according to a news release from Joint Base Lewis-McChord public affairs.

Public affairs officials said the unit will take “every measure” to limit the noise associated with the training.
