JBLM commissary closed after employee tests positive for COVID-19

One of Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s commissaries remained closed Monday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The Lewis Main Commissary has been closed since Saturday, Oct. 3, but is scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissary was closed Sunday and Monday to go through deep cleaning, according to JBLM public affairs officer Joe Piek.

In a statement on the JBLM Facebook page, leaders encouraged customers who used the Lewis Main commissary in the last week to monitor their health and contact a medical provider for advice.

The employee received a coronavirus test on Friday, Oct. 2, but did not receive results until Saturday, prompting the commissary’s closure.

Customers should expect longer lines at the commissary when it reopens on Tuesday, as the building will be minimally staffed.
