The Hood Canal Bridge will be closed intermittently Wednesday night and Thursday morning as maintenance crews work on the floating span, the state Department of Transportation announced.

The closures are scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. on Wednesday and continue until 4 a.m. on Thursday. Openings during this time will take place as work allows. Drivers are advised to plan for delays and to sign up for automated updates from the DOT.

Crews are working to replace gear boxes and hydraulic hoses. The $5.2 million project also calls for them to adjust guide rollers used to operate the span for marine traffic.
