Hit-and-run in Tacoma sends 3 to hospital, 1 in serious condition

Three people were hospitalized Thursday in a hit-and-run car crash in downtown Tacoma. Fire crews said there were two people in the car that was hit. A bystander also was injured.

Tacoma Fire Department said the hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of East D Street and Puyallup Avenue. Crews were on the scene at about 11:15 a.m., according to a tweet from the department.

Assistant Fire Chief Chris Johnson said one of the car’s occupants was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The other occupant suffered minor injuries.

Johnson said a person waiting for a bus nearby was hit by debris from the crash. That person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
