Man killed in traffic collision Monday afternoon in Spanaway

A 27-year-old man died Monday afternoon after his car collided with the front of a truck in Spanaway, deputies from Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said.

The collision occurred about 4:40 p.m. in the 4700 block of 240th Street East, according to a post from the department’s Facebook page. At the scene, deputies found the driver of a sedan dead in his vehicle. He has not been identified.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Ford F350, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told deputies the sedan was driving “at a high rate of speed” and fish-tailed, according to the department’s post. Then, the driver’s side door collided with the front of the truck.
