Traffic collision on I-5 near JBLM between semi-truck, tow truck causes delays

A traffic collision on Southbound I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Thursday afternoon blocked several lanes of traffic and caused delays for motorists on the interstate.

The collision was reported at about 12:15 p.m. near the Main Gate of JBLM, according to a tweet from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The right three lanes of traffic were blocked and the on-ramp was partially blocked.

A tow truck struck the rear of a semi-truck while changing lanes, Washington State Patrol trooper Robert Reyer said in a tweet.

The driver of the tow truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital as a precaution, Reyer said. WSDOT and other aid was on the scene of the crash. Reyer said to expect delays.
