Traffic stalled on road near Puyallup after semi-truck trailer disconnects from truck

Update, 10:28 a.m. Aug. 12: Pioneer Way at 52nd Street East was reopened to traffic in both directions, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Original story: Drivers traveling into Puyallup on Pioneer Way East may have run into traffic delays Friday morning after a semi-truck trailer disconnected from its truck, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident was reported around 7:45 a.m. near Pioneer Way and 52nd Street East, a department spokesperson said. Traffic was blocked in both directions.

Deputy Jeff Papen said traffic was being directed through one lane at about 8:15 a.m. Papen didn’t immediately have further information on how the crash occurred or what caused it.

No injuries were reported. Deputies said the road would remain closed until the vehicle could be removed.

Drivers were advised by deputies to use alternate routes.
