Car crash in East Pierce County blocks intersection Friday morning, firefighters say

A two-car collision in north Sumner is blocking an intersection Friday morning.

The intersection of Stewart Road East and 142nd Avenue East at the bottom of Lakeland Hills is blocked from the crash, according to East Pierce Fire on X at 10:23 a.m.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.

East Pierce Fire said at 10:41 a.m. that tow trucks were on the scene. The roadway is anticipated to open in 30 minutes.

11:10 a.m. update: The drivers in both vehicles were taken to the hospital with injuries. There is no immediate reports on the severity of their injuries. The roadway is now back open, according to a Sumner Police Department spokesperson.
