A car was fully engulfed in flames after it struck a barrier on I-5 in Tacoma.

There is up to three miles of backup on northbound I-5 near the Tacoma Dome due to the car fire. Multiple lanes were blocked and traffic was reduced to one lane, Washington State Patrol reported on X at 7:37 a.m.

The driver was allegedly speeding and and making aggressive lane changes prior to the crash, trooper John Dattilo told The News Tribune.

It is unknown if impairment was involved.

The driver was the only occupant and made it out of the car before the vehicle was fully engulfed. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire is now put out and all lanes have reopened.
