3-car crash in South Hill partially blocking state Route 161. Minor injuries reported

A three-car crash in South Hill is partially blocking northbound state Route 161 on Friday.

The crash on milepost 24.24 near 128th Street East was reported at 10:58 a.m. The right turn lane is blocked, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation in Tacoma.

Washington State Patrol and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is on scene. There are reportedly minor injuries.

Central Pierce & Fire crews blocked traffic and stabilized the vehicles involved. One person was taken to a local hospital. Drivers are asked to avoid the area, according to the fire department on X.

1:10 p.m. update: The roadway has reopened, according to WSDOT Tacoma.
