Alert: Overturned semi-truck on northbound I-5 causes 9-mile backup in Pierce County

The Washington State Patrol is working to remove a rolled-over semi-truck northbound I-5, causing traffic backups.

The right lane is blocked north of DuPont. There are no reported injuries and no other vehicles were involved, Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo wrote in an X post.

There will be heavy traffic in the area until the semi-truck gets removed, the post said.

3:15 p.m. update: A specialty tow truck is working to turn the semi-truck upright, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation Tacoma on X.

Traffic backups are nearing 9-miles. The post said that drivers should delay their travel on northbound I-5 in the area.

4:28 p.m. update: The crash has been cleared.
