Alert: Crash involving semi-truck on Interstate 5 in Tacoma causes miles of traffic

Traffic will be backed up on I-5 northbound near the Tacoma Mall for a while after a semi-truck crashed into a barrier Monday morning.

The crash happened just north of South 48th Street at mile post 132, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation Tacoma at 10:31 a.m. Two northbound lanes are blocked as well as one southbound lane.

No one was injured, and there were no other vehicles involved, Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo told The News Tribune.

Tow truck are on route and troopers are waiting for the barrier to get fixed. This will be an extended crash and traffic is expected to be blocked for a while.
