A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday after colliding with a truck on a highway near Clear Lake, north of Eatonville.

The wreck occurred at 12:09 p.m. on state Route 161 southbound between milepost 8.7 to milepost 9.1, the Washington State Department of Transportation posted on X. The area is between Jensen Road East and West Clear Lake Road East [South-End], the post said.

Officials closed the road and set a detour until the collision was cleared at 2:13 p.m., according to an update post on X.

Washington State Patrol spokesperson John Dattilo said the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital before troopers arrived on scene. The truck driver did not require transport to a hospital.

The truck was traveling south and turning left onto Clear Lake Road while the motorcycle was northbound when the crash occurred, he said.

Troopers aren’t making any criminal allegations at this point, and the investigation of the incident is ongoing, he said. He confirmed that the truck driver is not suspected of intoxication. Troopers haven’t been able to contact the motorcyclist.
