Puyallup man killed in single-car crash on SR 512 in Pierce County, troopers say

A 29-year-old Puyallup man died Tuesday night when he lost control of his vehicle on state Route 512 at Pacific Avenue and rolled, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The State Patrol reported the incident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway in Parkland.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision, and it’s unknown whether alcohol or drugs were involved. According to a news release which identified the man as Conner J. Barrott, the driver was in a 2012 Mazda Speed when he made a lane change to the left, lost control of the car and struck the jersey barrier on the left shoulder.

The Mazda then crossed back across all lanes to the right, went through a grassy section and struck a hillside to the right side of the ramp from Pacific Avenue. The impact caused the Mazda to roll multiple times, ejecting the driver. Troopers said Barrott was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The ramp was closed for more than two hours while crews investigated and set up traffic control.
