Update, 5:02 p.m.: The crash was cleared and all lanes of northbound I-5 are open.

Original story: A multi-vehicle collision is blocking two right lanes of northbound Interstate 5 traffic near South 272nd street in Kent, causing traffic to back up four miles on Thursday afternoon, the Washington Department of Transportation posted.

Around 1:45 p.m., a vehicle drifted and struck an attenuator truck on the right shoulder that was protecting a repair job, trooper Rick Johnson told The News Tribune. Two other cars were involved in the collision.

No one was in the truck at the time, and there were no life-threatening injuries to anyone involved, Johnson posted on X.

Authorities are on the scene redirecting traffic and working to clear the road.
