Traffic update: All lanes reopen on I-5 after crash near DuPont

A crash near Joint Base Lewis-McChord has stalled traffic Monday.

The crash occurred on Interstate 5 southbound near Steilacoom-Dupont Road, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation at 11:27 a.m.

The crash involved two cars and a semi-truck, Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts told The News Tribune.

One of the drivers was pinned under the steering wheel and had to be extracted from the car, he said. The injuries of the driver are unknown.

Information on the cause of the crash was not immediately available.

All traffic lanes were blocked temporarily after the incident. One left lane reopened.

1 p.m. update: Three of the left lanes have reopened. The right lane is closed for vehicle recovery, according to the WSDOT Tacoma account on X.

Update: The crash has cleared.
