Traffic alert: Lane closures are coming to these Tacoma-area freeways this week
Lanes on several key highways will close for construction in the Tacoma area starting Monday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The lane restrictions include portions of Interstate 5, State Route 509, State Route 99 and Wapato Way in and near Fife. They are necessary to complete bridge work as part of the SR 167 Completion Project, which will build six miles of new tolled highway between Puyallup and the Port of Tacoma.
“People are encouraged to plan ahead, make alternative plans and use caution while driving near the work zone,” WSDOT said in a Friday news release.
