One dead, two injured and SR-16 exit fully blocked after three-car pileup
A three-car collision on a westbound State Route 16 exit Wednesday afternoon resulted in one death and two injuries and closed the exit ramp to close for about four hours, Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts told The News Tribune.
The Washington Department of Transportation first reported the crash at 3:41 p.m. on X.
A vehicle was attempting to make a left turn from the bottom of the exit ramp to State Route 302 when it was T-boned by a car in oncoming traffic, Watts said. A third vehicle was involved in the crash as well.
The driver who attempted to make the turn is confirmed deceased, while the other two drivers were sent to the hospital, Watts said.
Westbound traffic was turned around at Burley-Olalla Road to access SR-302 from eastbound SR-16.
WSDOT encouraged people traveling from Gig Harbor to Key Peninsula to use different routes to access the Purdy Bay Bridge.
