Renovation continues on Tacoma Avenue South Bridge

The Tacoma Avenue South bridge was closed in late February so that its bridge deck and guardrails could be reconstructed.

The estimated $12 million project includes the replacement of girders and painting the steel of the more than 80-year-old span.

Funding came from the Federal Highway Bridge Program, Transportation Improvement Board and the city of Tacoma.

The bridge will remain closed until next spring while work continues.
