Collision on I-5 North in Tacoma cleared

Update: The collision has been cleared, WSDOT posted at 11:24 a.m.

Update: Trooper Kameron Watts with the Washington State Patrol said the crash happened between a box truck and a white Toyota in the HOV lane.

One person, a 43-year-old woman, has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Watts said. The other driver is not injured.

“The dynamics of the collision are unknown at this time,” Watts said.

Lanes are blocked on Interstate 5 northbound in Tacoma because of a collision.

According to an X post from the Washington State Department of Transportation, the collision happened at 10:38 a.m. near milepost 135 by East Bay Street and state Route 167.

WSDOT says the HOV lane and left lane are blocked.

Chelsea Shepperd, spokesperson for Tacoma Fire, told The News Tribune they are evaluating someone for injuries.
