One hospitalized after crash on Interstate 5
A 45-year-old Tacoma man has been transported to a hospital after a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 5 near DuPont on Saturday morning.
According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the incident started at about 3:12 a.m., with both cars traveling in the same lane on southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 119.
Milepost 119 is the exit for Steilacoom-DuPont Road.
One of the drivers, a 30-year-old man from Lacey, left the roadway and hit an attenuator, the release said. He then “reentered the roadway and came to rest in lane three,” the release said.
The 45-year-old Tacoma man struck some debris in the roadway, the release said, and “came to rest in lane three and the left shoulder.”
The road was blocked for an hour and a half after the crash, the release said. The 30-year-old Lacey man is facing a charge for driving under the influence.
WSP is still investigating the cause of the accident, the release said.
