Tacoma woman hospitalized after three-car crash in Kitsap County
A Tacoma woman has been sent to the hospital with injuries after a three-car crash near Gorst in Kitsap County Friday evening.
According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened at about 5:49 p.m. A 24-year-old man from Poulsbo and a 29-year-old man from Belfair were both traveling southbound on state Route 3 at Sunnyslope Road near Gorst. The 44-year-old Tacoma woman was driving northbound on state Route 3 at Sunnyslope Road.
The Poulsbo man “lost control” and hit the Belfair man, the release said. The Poulsbo man then “continued, left the roadway and struck the guardrail,” then crossed the center line and hit the Tacoma woman.
Both the Belfair man and the Tacoma woman came to rest on the right shoulder of northbound state Route 3, while the Poulsbo man blocked the second lane on the southbound side and the first lane on the southbound side.
The Poulsbo man is facing charges of driving under the influence and a hit and run, the release said. The cause of the crash is listed as “DUI and negligent driving.”
The Tacoma woman was sent to a local hospital with injuries, the release said.
Both the Poulsbo man and Tacoma woman had their cars totaled, the release said, while the Belfair man’s car had “reportable damage.”
