Six-car collision cleared on Interstate 5 northbound

Update: The collision was cleared at about 12:35 p.m., according to an X post from WSDOT.

Traffic is backed up on Interstate 5 northbound near milepost 130 by South 56th Street in Tacoma after a six-car collision.

According to an X post from the Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash happened at about 11:28 a.m.

Trooper Kameron Watts, spokesperson with the Washington State Patrol, said the two right lanes are blocked, as well as the ramp to South 56th Street.

Watts said one person has minor injuries, and there are no other serious injuries or deaths.

The News Tribune asked Watts how the crash happened, and he said that is still being investigated.
