I-5 ramp, lane closures scheduled for Tacoma this week

A host of lane and ramp closures will take place this week as construction crews continue to work on improvements to Interstate 5 between Port of Tacoma Road in Fife to M Street in Tacoma, the state Department of Transportation reported.

Here’s the rundown.

▪ Monday: The onramp from East 28th Street to northbound state Route 167 will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

▪ Tuesday: The exit from southbound I-5 to southbound state Route 7 will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Also, the onramp from East 28th Street to northbound SR 167 will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

▪ Wednesday: The exit from southbound I-5 to southbound SR 7 will close at 11 a.m. and reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday. Also, the onramp from East 28th Street to northbound SR 167 will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 4 a.m. Thursday.

▪ Thursday: The onramp from South 38th Street to northbound SR 7 will close at 11 p.m. and reopen at 6 a.m. Friday. Also, the onramp from East 28th Street to northbound SR 167 will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 4 a.m. Friday.

▪ Friday: The onramp from South 38th Street to northbound SR 7 will be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Also, the onramp from East 28th Street to northbound I-5 will close from 11:59 p.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday. The onramp from East 28th Street to northbound SR 167 will close at 11 p.m. and not reopen until 7 a.m. Saturday.

In addition, the northbound collector-distributor lanes from I-5 to northbound Interstate 705 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Feb. 8.

Lastly, the northbound I-5 collector-distributor exit to southbound SR 7 will be closed from 3 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday and from 11 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.
