Paving to restrict lanes on Route 410 near Sumner

Several nights of lane closures on state Route 410, the highway from Sumner to Buckley and Chinook Pass, will complicate the drive through the Sumner area this week.

Crews will be reducing the highway to one lane overnight Monday through Friday, and ramps from state Route 410 to state routes 512 and 167 north of the Puyallup River bridge will be closed during portions of Monday and Tuesday.

The closures are necessary for a paving project.

Here’s the rundown:

▪ Monday and Tuesday: At 8 p.m., crews will close one lane of westbound state Route 410 in the Sumner area. The lane will reopen about 6 a.m. the next day.

Also, beginning at 11 p.m., the westbound state Route 410 exit to southbound state Route 167 and the southbound state Route 167 exit to state Route 512 will close.

Both ramps will reopen at 5 a.m. the next day.

▪ Wednesday and Thursday: At 8 p.m., crews will close one lane of westbound state Route 410 near Sumner and at 10 p.m. will reduce the freeway to one lane and redirect it through the 166th Avenue East interchange.

The lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. the next morning.

▪ Friday: At 9 p.m., crews will close one lane of westbound state Route 410 near Sumner and at 11 p.m. will reduce the freeway to one lane and redirect it through the 166th Avenue East interchange.

The lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. the next morning.
