Wreck on I-5 near Dome: minor injuries, big backup

A minor-injury collision on northbound I-5 near the Tacoma Dome is snarling traffic and blocking the two left lanes, extending the Friday rush hour.

The area of the freeway is in the midst of major construction, adding complications. Washington State patrol spokesman Todd Bartolac called the incident minor. Tacoma Fire Department engines are on hand, largely to protect state troopers handling the scene from the swell of traffic, Bartolac said.
