Concrete wall collapses and buries man up to his waist, Washington officials say
An Auburn man has been rescued after he was trapped under a concrete wall that collapsed, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.
The VRFA Technical Rescue Team responded to a man in his 40s who got trapped under a collapsed retaining wall, according to a post on the VRFA’s Twitter account.
The man was “buried to his waist,” but conscious when the team arrived on the scene. Rescuers had to remove a 1,400-pound block that was preventing them from getting the man out.
He was treated by King County Medic One Paramedics, who helped him keep warm to “stave off hypothermia.” The man’s in “stable condition” and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, which is about 30 miles north of Auburn.
