Couple taunts homeless people, then driver hits them with SUV, San Francisco cops say
San Francisco police said a driver hit homeless people with an SUV on Monday after he and a female passenger taunted them. The driver then allegedly slammed into a police cruiser.
“The occupants of the car were yelling and making threatening statements to several people on the street, mainly homeless people,” San Francisco police Lt. Dave Maron told CBS San Francisco. “The car then drove up onto the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians on the street. The two of them were homeless individuals. They received non-life threatening injuries.”
Maron told CBS San Francisco the driver and passenger tried to flee the scene.
Police found the SUV and said the driver crashed into a patrol car on purpose, according to Fox2.
“The officers, after taking the two people in custody, realized the vehicle that struck them matched the description of the vehicle that had struck the two pedestrians at Haight Asbury 10 minutes prior,” Maron told Fox2.
Police arrested Case Estorco, 18, of Patterson for “suspicion of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, battery on a peace officer, driving under the influence, hit and run, battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon,” according to the San Francisco Examiner.
The female passenger was released, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
